(Kelly Chapman) – I don’t know about you, but I've had enough…
Are you fed up with Joe Biden's open border policies that prioritize illegal immigrants over our military veterans and American citizens?
Are you fed up with the skyrocketing prices of gas and groceries, and stores having to lock up products - or even close their doors - to stop rampant shoplifting?
Are you fed up with seeing pro-Hamas protesters burning American flags and causing chaos on college campuses?
Are you fed up with judges handing out get-out-of-jail-free cards to criminals, and gun control advocates who want to leave us – especially women - defenseless against violent thugs?
Are you fed up with our kids being trapped in a failing public school just because of their zip code?
Are you especially fed up with Californians moving here to escape high taxes and government hassles but voting for the same policies that ruined their state?
Yes, there's a lot I'm fed up with. But I'm not just complaining. I'm fighting back.
My family moved to Las Vegas from Maine in 1979.
I became pregnant at 17 in my senior year of high school. And although - as a single mom - it was tough, I never regretted choosing to bring my son into this world. He's been the gift that keeps on giving.
I started out as a blackjack dealer and worked my way up to casino pit boss for high-limit table games. So I understand our state’s biggest industry from a worker’s point of view.
After 25 years in the casino industry, I retired last year to run for the Nevada State Assembly.
I used to be a Democrat. But I saw the light many years ago and became an independent Republican.
I decided to take action last year after watching Democrats pass 75 bad bills that Governor Lombardo was forced to veto, including three gun-control bills.
My support for the Second Amendment was cemented after a close friend and co-worker was murdered in her own home by a homeless man who was hired by her own husband.
And I couldn't stand by any longer as Democrats killed bills from Gov. Lombardo that would give more parents more school choice, better secure our elections, and stop treating disruptive students like saints.
Oh, and remember the governor’s proposal to help us at the gas pump by suspending the gas tax for 12 months? Democrats never gave it a hearing, let alone a vote.
As a candidate, I’ve already taken a leading role in changing the Nevada Constitution so that “ONLY” citizens can vote in any of our elections, as well as requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote.
And my commitment to protecting your wallet and bank account – regardless of party affiliation - was sealed in writing by signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge promising to “oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes.”
These are all reasons why I'm running for Nevada State Assembly District 8 against an incumbent Democrat “tax-hiker-in-waiting” who voted for all of the bills Gov. Lombardo vetoed and whose party is responsible for many of the things we're all fed up with.
District 8 is tough, but it's not impossible. A Republican won it in 2014. And it’s become a little more competitive since re-districting in 2020.
